When there are vacancies on the Baltimore County Circuit Court the Governor appoints Judges who are highly qualified to serve on the bench until the next election. When the next election occurs, those Circuit Court Judges who wish to continue to serve must run for a 15 year term in a special non-partisan election.

Recently appointed judges Sherrie R. Bailey, Ann Brobst, and John Nagle are each running to be retained as Circuit Court judges for Baltimore County in the 2010 election.
